Quoting a forging
Send the drawing and the route is priced from it, including tooling where a die does not exist.
| 1. Drawing | PDF or STEP, with the critical dimensions marked |
| 2. Grade | 718, X-750, 625, 600, Waspaloy, Rene 41 or Nimonic 80A |
| 3. Condition | As forged, rough machined or finish machined; annealed or aged |
| 4. Test specification | UT class, PT, tensile and hardness callouts |
| 5. Quantity | Per part number, plus any spares |
| 6. Date needed | So the forging and heat treat route is scheduled |
What the reply contains
- Quotation covering the exact drawing, grade and condition
- Whether a die exists or is a tooling item
- The UT class we can meet on that section
- The properties the certificate will state
Tooling
Closed-die work needs a die. Where one exists the part can be quoted directly; where it does not, the tooling is quoted as a separate item with its own lead time so it is visible rather than buried in the piece price.
