Sizes and tolerances

Mesh count, wire diameter, open area and roll width — the four numbers that define a mesh.

ParameterRangeNotes
Mesh count20 – 400 per inch30 – 60 standard for electrode substrates
Wire diameter0.16 / 0.19 / 0.25 / 0.30 mm±0.003 mm, laser micrometer verified
Open area35 – 55% geometricDepends on weave and wire diameter
Roll width1,000 mm standardTo 2,400 mm woven, 2,700 mm knitted, slitting available

What the four numbers mean together

Mesh count alone does not define a mesh. The same count at two wire diameters gives different open area and different electrical resistance across the sheet, and the electrode design depends on both. Send the count and the open area, or the count and the wire diameter.

Woven against knitted

WovenOrdered aperture, flat sheet, predictable flowWhere the substrate is flat and the flow path is defined
Knitted85–98% volumetric porosity, elastic spring-backWhere the electrode is compressed in the stack
